Good, Better, Best: Dental Style!

The new year is almost here, and thoughts turn to what could be improved going forward into 2019. We love all our dental patients in Auburn Hills, MI, but there is always room for improvement when it comes to good oral hygiene and personal and family preventive care. We’ve compiled a short list of some good, better and best habits, so you can have fun seeing where you fall on the scale. If you find yourself with lots of “good” behaviors, we encourage you to make them better and best!

How Often Do Your See Your Dentist?

GOOD: I make appointments about twice a year. Sometimes things get busy and I skip or reschedule a few. But I try!

BETTER: I make appointments twice a year, and keep them like clockwork! I save up my questions and issues between visits for my exam and cleaning appointments

BEST: I make appointments twice a year, keep them like clockwork, and I check in if I experience any issues between appointments

My Home Care Routine:

GOOD: Brush twice (most days). Floss (most days). I think my flossing technique is pretty good.

BETTER: Brush twice daily, floss once daily; even when I travel, even when I’m busy, even when I’m tired. I am confident in my brushing and flossing technique.

BEST: Brush twice, floss once. Brush or rinse with water after meals and sip water throughout the day. I ask the helpful dental team when I have questions about how to brush or floss.

My Snacking Habits:

GOOD: Maybe a few times a day. Not too many sweets. Maybe a soft drink or juice drink every few days or so.

BETTER: Once or twice between meals. Mostly healthy foods. Plenty of water!

BEST: Rarely snack. Mostly crunchy foods like carrots and crisp apples, or maybe some cheese. Rinse afterwards.
