Worried About Orthodontic Braces? Ask Us About Invisalign®!

When your teeth aren’t aligned properly, you might instinctively feel the need to straighten them. Whether it’s because of how they make your smile look, how they affect your bite function, or other reasons, that need is one you should listen to. After all, crooked teeth can have several negative impacts on your oral health. However, for some patients, the idea of wearing metal braces for a couple of years can be almost as worrisome. At our office, we help take the worry out of orthodontic treatment by offering Invisalign® clear aligners to patients who qualify.

If you’re worried about how they look

Traditionally, braces consist of brackets and wires that work together to gently force your teeth into properly alignment. While effective, traditional metal braces are highly visible, and many adult patients worry how their appearance could impact their confidence throughout their daily lives. Invisalign® clear aligners are designed to remain virtually invisible throughout the course of your treatment to alleviate the cosmetic concern of wearing braces. Not only are they made from clear, BPA-free acrylic, but are also digitally designed to precisely fit over your teeth and avoid shifting.

If you’re worried about what you can eat

For traditional braces to work, the brackets have to be semi-permanently bonded to your teeth. When your dentist or orthodontist tightens the arch wire connecting them, the brackets will gently push teeth into straighter positions. Throughout the day, you’ll have to make choices that accommodate your brackets and wires, such as eating only certain kinds of foods to lessen the risks of getting particles stuck in them, or damaging them. By contrast, you can temporarily remove Invisalign’s clear aligners so you can eat a wider variety of foods without worry.

If you’re worried about good hygiene practices

In addition to eating a broader range of different foods, Invisalign® is especially beneficial to your daily hygiene routine. Cleaning around braces often requires specialized hygiene tools, such as interdental cleaners, to successfully remove any plaque and food particles that have become lodged in them. If you remove your aligners beforehand, you can clean your teeth successfully using routine hygiene tools, such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss.
