Waiting Can Compromise Your Candidacy For A Dental Implant

Are you ready to receive a dental implant and address tooth loss? If you have let a missing tooth go unaddressed, failing to respond to the problem can end up complicating your candidacy. If you think tooth loss is merely a problem that concerns your smile, you should know that there are also oral health issues you need to contend with. One particular issue that can affect your candidacy for implants is the deterioration of your jawbone, which happens over time. This occurs because a lack of stimulation from your tooth root leads to a lack of nutrients being delivered to the bone. If this occurs, or if you have unaddressed issues with gum disease, you can require work in advance of receiving your implant. (more…)

Quiz: Understanding How A Dental Implant Can Help You

If your smile is incomplete because of tooth loss, your oral health can be left at a real disadvantage. The effect on your appearance can be obvious, but tooth loss will also lead to functional problems. Finding it harder to bite and chew comfortably? Over time, that discomfort can lead to problems like TMJ dysfunction. You also face a higher risk of losing more teeth. A dental implant offers you a chance to have a smile that feels whole again – in addition to improving how you look, and your ability to bite and chew, this prosthetic support possesses the unique ability to stop jawbone resorption. Your Crown Should Offer Full Support For Your Tooth

A dental crown made of ceramic can be an effective cosmetic solution for a problem tooth, but the restoration is also meant to be of functional value. The presence of a dental crown should not impede how you bite into or chew food. Without that total protection, you can struggle to enjoy regular jaw function, and that can lead to issues with your jaw. If you have an issue with your crown – either because of damage, or if it becomes loose without apparent cause – let your dentist know. Your tooth will always need support, and losing that support can call for intervention from your dentist. (more…)
