A serious cavity is bad news for your tooth. The good news is that your dentist can eliminate the decay that is occurring, and make sure you leave with your smile unaffected. How is this possible? A dental restoration can be provided that offers effective care, AND a pleasing appearance. If you need a filling, one made from composite resin will blend in with the surrounding enamel, so that it does not alter your appearance. A dental crown made of porcelain has a lifelike appearance, and actually reflects light in the same way your enamel does. Because your dentist has CEREC Same-Day Crowns technology at the office, you can actually receive an attractive dental crown in just a single visit. (more…)
Quiz: What Makes CEREC Same-Day Crowns Dental Crowns Special?
What is it about CEREC Same-Day Crowns dental crowns that make them different from traditional crowns? With CEREC Same-Day Crowns, you can receive your restoration in less time – the technology makes it possible to have your tooth restored after one visit. Without CEREC Same-Day Crowns, your dentist would have to take measurements and prepare your tooth for the crown, then fit you with a temporary restoration until the permanent crown can be manufactured. Rather than be beholden to this delay, your dentist can actually have your crown designed and produced in the office, in time to be placed on your tooth during your initial visit. (more…)
3 Issues Created By Tooth Loss
Can you imagine meeting someone who was excited by the idea of losing their teeth? It may be hard to find anyone who sees this as a positive development, but people may not understand how many aspects of your oral health can be negatively impacted by tooth loss. If you have suffered tooth loss, restoration is available through the placement of a dental implant. A dental implant is fitted into your jawbone; because it is made of biocompatible titanium, your bone will fuse to it. This strong hold keeps your replacement tooth steady enough to function like a natural tooth, and can help support your jaw. (more…)

The Role Dental Crowns Play In Cavity Restoration
Once a cavity forms on your tooth, it is time for a trip to the dentist. While your enamel has some capacity for recovery when a tooth takes on damage, a cavity is more than your natural defenses can fix. A restorative dental treatment can remove decay, and make sure your tooth can function after treatment. The measures your dentist must take to fix your tooth after a cavity will depend on its size – the longer you wait for treatment, the more time your cavity has to grow. A dental crown can enable your dentist to protect your tooth after serious decay has occurred. (more…)
Quiz: What Can Happen When You Lose A Tooth
A dental implant offers a chance to permanently replace a lost tooth, and can do so without interfering with neighboring teeth. The implant itself is not your replacement tooth, but a post used to keep it in position. It is able to do so because it will be inserted directly into your jawbone, taking up the residence that formerly contained your lost tooth root. Once you have sufficiently healed from having the implant placed, a lifelike replacement tooth can be inserted onto it. The replacement look like a regular tooth, and it will be durable enough for you to engage it in biting and chewing food. (more…)

3 Reasons To Have A Dental Implant Replace Your Lost Tooth
While prosthetic dentistry offers more than one way to restore a smile with a missing tooth, having a dental implant can help address the lost tooth root. The implant itself is not the replacement tooth. Once it has healed, your dentist can place a restoration, like a dental crown, on it. Much of your implant will reside below your gum line, and your jawbone will actually fuse with it. This creates a remarkable stability, which means you can use your implant-held restoration effectively for biting and chewing. (more…)

The Impact Of Tooth Loss On Your Jaw
The impact of tooth loss does not stop at your teeth, or how your smile is affected. Did you know that losing teeth can lead to deterioration in your jawbone? The roots of your teeth play a role in keeping your jawbone healthy. They create stimulation in the bone, which helps support blood flow, and the delivery of necessary nutrients. When that stimulation goes away, your jaw can deplete over time. This can make replacing a lost tooth more difficult, weaken your jaw, and hurt your appearance. One advantage you gain by replacing a lost tooth with a dental implant is that doing so can protect your jaw from this deterioration. (more…)
